Outdoor Lighting Design

What Design Means to Us

Our role is not advisory.

Outdoor lighting is often addressed too late in the process.

At APIS, it is considered as part of the architecture, landscape, and overall experience of the home. We work alongside architects, landscape architects, builders, designers, and private clients to create lighting that feels intentional from the beginning.

Every fixture, beam angle, placement, and transition is planned in context. The goal is not to make the lighting stand out. It is to make the property feel complete after dark.

“The lighting shouldn’t announce itself — it should make everything else look right.”

Existing properties

Nothing is treated as an addition. Everything is considered in context.

Many projects come to us after the home, landscape, or outdoor environment has already been completed.

In these cases, the work is not about simply adding fixtures. It is about understanding what already exists, identifying what feels unresolved, and creating a lighting system that appears to have belonged there from the beginning.

We refine, replace, or introduce lighting with restraint, so the finished result feels natural to the architecture and landscape.

Lighting design plans

continuity

Design that carries through. From planning to performance.

Outdoor lighting design is part of a larger system.

From early planning through fixture specification, procurement, installation, nighttime focusing, and long-term maintenance, APIS carries the lighting through with consistency and control.

The design is not handed off and hoped for. It is protected through each phase so the final result performs the way it was intended.

What a Full Apis Project Includes
When we are engaged

Integrated from the first design phase.

The best lighting outcomes begin early.

When APIS is brought in during the architectural or landscape design phase, lighting can be planned before hardscape, planting, electrical, and construction decisions are finalized. This allows the system to feel more seamless, more intentional, and more refined.

We are also brought into completed properties where the lighting needs to be reworked, elevated, or fully reimagined.

Whether we begin at the outset or after completion, the approach is the same: thoughtful planning, precise execution, and lighting that feels connected to the property as a whole.

Start With a Conversation

Tell us about your property.

Every design engagement begins with a site walk and a conversation. We’ll assess your property, understand your goals, and tell you exactly what a design plan will look like for your specific project — before any commitment is made.

Whether you need design only or want Apis to carry the project from plan to commissioning — we’ll outline both paths clearly.
